Little M monthly summary: Month 9

Apologies for missing the last monthly update, and a bit of slowdown on posts (especially for the Omas who read this blot). I’ve had some work deadlines, along with some DIY projects that needed to be done soon and other projects starting up at home. Might be a bit slower on posting in the next two months, but I have a few cooking projects and other DIYs to put up.

But, monthly update first.

Little M is over 10 months old! It is 2014 and I am anticipating his first birthday soon! It has gone by all too quickly. He has been developing quickly and becoming a toddler in front of our eyes. .

Feeding: Eating lots and lots of solids, including developing some preferences for tastes. Little M loves fruits (and in general seems to have a sweet tooth). He loves chomping on bananas and toast. We have also been practicing solid food eating with finger foods – Little M still needs more practice but has done very well with pieces of cooked soft fish, banana, orange and toast.

Fussy: Little M is over strange anxiety – at a larger party, he was right at home with other toddlers and babies. He is still pretty clingy at night and sometimes during the day, especially if he sees me.

Sleeping: Ah, it seems like we have been waiting for Little M to sleep through (or for 5+ hours in one stretch) since he was born. He is still waking every 2 hours, and needs to nurse to get back to sleep. Little M might be going through another development and/or physical growth spurt. For now, we are still roughing it overnight and it is a slog.

Waketimes: same waketimes as before – two naps during the day, usually an hour each. Bedtime at 5:30 to 6, depending on how tired he seems.

Potty: Little M has peed twice in the potty at daycare. We put him on every day now right around his bath and he doesn’t mind it.

Milestones: Besides all of the cruising, chattering, fine motor skills and so on from last months, which Little M has been improving on, he has started to work on some social interactions. A particularly cute one is that he now waves back at us – not always, but when he figures out the waving thing he’s excited for a while. Little M has also started to show us his preferences (sometimes forcibly) like favoring specific blocks from his set, liking certain books, and even throwing some toys into the bathtub before taking a bath.

Mom: A lot going on since Christmas, which keeps me super busy. Things will calm down after the end of February, but for now, getting everything started up at work and home. Gosh, I am hoping Little M starts to sleep better at nights.
